JAMB’s Technical Glitch: JAMB to reschedule UTME for Candidates Affected by Technical Issues

On May 14, 2025, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) shook the airwaves with a sobering announcemen

t. It read like the opening line of a parable:

“Man Proposes, God Disposes!”

But beyond the poetic tone was a hard truth. A technical glitch marred the 2025 UTME, affecting 157 out of 887 examination centres nationwide. For candidates in those centres, the odds weren’t just stacked against them — the system crumbled beneath them.

JAMB confirmed that this glitch directly caused the poor performance of many candidates scheduled to write in the affected centres. So when the results came in, many students were left staring at scores that didn’t reflect the months — or even years — of sleepless nights, hope-filled prayers, and hard-earned preparation.

But there’s a new turn.

JAMB Offers a Do-Over on the JAMB Portal

In a follow-up announcement, JAMB stated that all affected candidates will be contacted to reprint their examination slips. These candidates will be given the opportunity to retake their exams, with the rescheduled UTME starting on May 16, 2025.

Let that sink in: A second chance.

While this is a much-needed relief, it also raises bigger questions.
How do we protect the credibility of national examinations?
Why must it take public outcry and official damage control before systemic errors are acknowledged?

More Than Just Numbers

This is not just about 157 centres.
It’s about thousands of dreams, some nearly crushed under the weight of failure that wasn’t theirs.
It’s about rebuilding trust in a system designed to shape the future of our youth.

At Mindklass, we believe that education should empower, not frustrate. We celebrate JAMB’s willingness to offer a retake — but we also call for sustainable improvements. Better infrastructure. Proactive testing. Transparent communication.

To every candidate affected — your voice was heard.
To the rest of us — let this be a reminder: Real change begins with accountability.

Be Curious. Be Informed. Be Brave.
