I promise you, this one will cheer you up.
So today inside bus, a guy pulled out what looked like a real iPhone 14 Pro Max. Brand new. Shine shine. He told my friend he was selling it for ₦100k last because his mother was in the hospital and they needed ₦200k for surgery.
Immediately, my friend’s eyes started shining. The spirit of “to buy” was already hungrying him. He opened mouth:
“Bros, make we do ₦80k.”
I just weak.
The seller gree sharp sharp. I collected the phone, checked it — everything was working fine. In fact, the man’s picture was the screensaver. That alone made me suspicious. I whispered to my friend,
“Guy, this thing fit be stolen o.”
But my guy no send me. He said even if it was, he would flash it, change the casing, or resell it immediately.
Next thing, he wired the ₦80k.
We alighted, waved the guy goodbye as he claimed he was rushing for the surgery. My friend and I then sat under a tree to admire the miracle iPhone.
That was how the drama started.
The phone suddenly switched off. We thought maybe it was battery. Then it powered back on. Screen wrote:
“Searching…”
We waited.
Two minutes later, it changed to:
“Tracking… Tracking… Tracking…”
My hand weak. I quickly passed the phone back to my friend.
“Bros, hold your phone abeg.”
He pushed it back.
“You are already holding it, continue.”
“Track what? Who is it tracking?”
“Maybe it’s network.”
“Network dey track? Oga hold your phone!”
We shoved it back and forth like hot potato. Then suddenly… the phone flashed again:
“Location Found.”
Before I could blink, my friend Kelechi screamed, threw his bag to the ground and bolted.
I followed immediately. “Kelechi why are you running?!”
He shouted back without looking at me:
“The phone don find location!”
“Which location???”
“I no know o! Maybe na our own location!!”
Omo, I didn’t argue again. I just branched left into one bush, running like Bolt. Guess what?
I turned back… only to see Kelechi right behind me. Still holding the phone.
At that point, I knew we were both finished.
